Jesus AND...

Hey friend,

I see you over there with your heart in one hand and your cell phone in the other trying to be all things to all people and not lose yourself in the process. Life is busy and complicated and beautiful and hard. You've got a full life, good friends, supportive family a full calendar and an even fuller can of dry shampoo. You are equipped for the task at hand and even when you aren't you somehow always make it happen. You love so many things about your life, even the sticky bits. But when you sit quiet and still there's a feeling that you can't quite put your finger on, a longing in the deepest part of your heart; a desire to be or do...something.

The quick answer, the one you might already know, is that the thing you're dreaming about is not a thing at all, but a person, actually it's 3 persons. It's none other than the triune God, creator of heaven and earth, incarnate savior, and spirit of love who also happens to be the creator and lover and sustenance of your individual, unique, unrepeatable, dynamic soul.

You spend a lot of time trying to fill that God shaped hole in your heart with other things and sometimes it takes a while,  and some trial and a heapin helpin of error to figure out that those things do NOT fill you. Sometimes you have to learn the same lesson over and over. But here's the thing; that 'font of life and fire of love' fulfillment that the good God brings to your life is not as singular as it sounds. Yes. it is 100% true that all you need is Jesus. But, it's also true that a life with Jesus is an abundant life. It's about order, not deprivation.

When the focus of your fulfillment is solely on your career, your passion, your social life or EVEN your family all the pieces just won't ever fit quite right, right? But, when you place God in the center of your life first, in HIM there is room for everything that is good. To be a good woman doesn't mean that you can't ever think about the desires of your heart, your talents, your friends or the particular things that make YOU happy. The creator of your heart already knows about those things because He put them there in the first place. In Him there is enough room for everything that is good because He is the source and fulfillment of all of that too. You cannot fulfill your passions in a way that God has not already planned to do so for you. LET HIM.

You want Jesus and a good marriage. You want Jesus and happy, healthy, holy kids. You want Jesus and dear friends to walk through life with. You want Jesus and your dream job. He knows all of that but keep telling Him anyway, He likes hearing from you. Let Him sort it out. Let Jesus fill that whole space, let Him bring you abundant life.
